Editor’s Note: Home for the Holidays

Bonjour Vagabundos,

It’s funny how family never seems to change isn’t it? No matter what, no matter how long one is away, one’s family is always there for them in the same capacity as they always have been. Quite often we are reminded of this during the holidays. For the travellers out there it is these times that we often realize how much we miss them when we’re away, but also how much it is worth seeing them when we are home

This year I have come to the realization that I actually have two families. And although my second family, the travel community, might not have shared blood lines or last names, and in many cases I might not have even met the people personally, that community is just as strong as family. That family is one that is always supportive, it is one that nearly always looks out for one and other. The travel community family is one that helps someone who is down, pushes someone that needs inspiration and congratulates those who have done well. I feel lucky to be part of such a great community.

This little dream of mine known as Vagabundo Magazine wouldn’t have been possible without some long hours, some hard work and some inspiration. But most of all I know that there is no way this project would have managed to become such a success without the help, support, and encouragement of so many members of the travel community. I can’t thank the people who have been involved in the creation of this magazine enough.

At the end of the day, this magazine might be my project, but it really is so much more than that. It is your magazine. There will be some growing pains, I’m sure of that, but with your continued support there is no way it can fail. I thank you all for that.

Happy Holidays,

Brendan van Son
