Writers and Photographers? We Want You!

With the last issue of the magazine being such a success I’m excited to be moving forward to the summer issue already. I have no doubt that the magazine will continue to improve and become a product that you really enjoy reading.

One massive part of that success we hope to enjoy rests on the shoulders of freelance contributors. Each issue or magazine provides a nice mix of Vagabundo staff and freelance work. We will obviously look to continue that trend in the future.

I would like to announce our call for pitches, articles and photographs from freelance writers and photographers.

Writers

Stories:

The “theme” of the next issue of the magazine is “great journeys” and we’ve already got a number of really good stories from Spain and America but we’ve still got space for a couple stories. The articles don’t need to be about journeys, we’ll listen to pitched for anything.

To give you a bit of an idea of they type of articles we look for, we don’t want top10 type articles. We like really lively, inspirational, and colourful worded articles. We want to publish the type of articles that allow our readers to be swept away with the story. We also give preference to articles that are accompanied by great images. Also, we give preference to off the beaten path destinations. Preference for this issue will be given to writers featuring South America and Asia.

We have again boosted the price we are paying for articles. Authors will now be paid $125-30 depending on the placement and length of the story.

If you would like to pitch an article send an email into editor-in-chief Brendan van Son at editor(at)vagabundomagazine(dot)com with the title of the email being “featured story”.

Product Reviews:

We’re running a series of product reviews in the next issue. We’ll be testing out travel related products that cost less that $35. Each review should be about 150-200 words.

For the product review we will compensate the cost of the product plus pay $25.

If you’re interested in doing a product review please shoot us an email telling us which product you’d like to review. *Please note that to do a review you must have no affiliation with that product whatsoever.

To submit an idea for a product review shoot Brendan an email with the subject of “product review” at editor(at)vagabundomagazine(dot)com.

Photographers

Shutter Spot:

There are wide photos that are accompanied by a short 75-100 word description of the photo. These images should be technically sound images shot on a high resolution. We will be featuring 5 images in the next issue, we have selected 2 so far.

Photographers are paid for Shutter Spot images as well and will earn $25 for the publication of their image.

If you would like to send a submission. Please shoot Brendan an email with a copy of the photo cut down to 600 pixels and the subject of the email reading “shutter spot” to editor(at)vagabundomagazine(dot)com

Photo Corner:

Each issue we feature a great travel photographer. In doing so, we interview the photograph while at the same time feature their work. If you are a photographer who you think we should feature please shoot us an email with your background and a couple samples of your work.

Along with the exposure of being featured, you will be paid for letting us use your images in the article. The payment to photographers featured in Photo Corner is $125.

If you’re interested please send an image and a sample of your work to Brendan at editor(at)vagabundomagazine(dot)com. Please be sure to use the title “photo corner”.
