Photo Corner: Urquhart Castle, Scotland

This photo is of Urquhart castle, near Loch Ness. After a long day of bus ride from Edinburgh into the Scottish highlands, I arrived at Urquhart castle in the mid-afternoon. Once one of the largest castles in Scotland, Urquhart Castle suffered a long and bloody history and, today, is largely in ruins. As I stood in the castle tower, overlooking Loch Ness, I paused in a brief moment of silence, hoping to catch a glimpse of the mysterious Loch Ness monster. Although no monster surfaced, I stood amazed by the stunning scenery in the Scottish highlands.

  1. Great capture of an amazing heritage site. Between the castle, the loch and nearby village of Drumnadrochit there is days worth of sights in that area alone.
