About the Issue

This year has been a really powerful one for Editor-in-Chief Brendan van Son.  After a couple serious incidents in Africa on his “epic” scooter trip down Africa including 2 cases of malaria and a serious crash, Brendan was hit extremely hard by the article in this brand new issue named “Nothing Held Back: Remembering Taylor Booth”.  The article demostrates courage, power, and such passion that can only be felt by those who have experienced the road.  But it also shows how fragile life can be.  Life can be taken from us at any given moment, so it’s so important to live life as hard as you can, every single day.

While in Africa, Brendan was quoted as saying, “if I died today, I’d be ok with it.  I’m not depressed, nor am I done with life.  However, I know that I’ve lived my life as hard as I can.  I’ve lived a thousand years in my 20s alone.  I’m happy, and I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished in my life.”

I would like to think that’s a sentiment that Taylor Booth held.  We may have lost an amazing person young in his life, but he touched as many people and lived as many years as a 100-year-old man.

That adventure-based love for life is something that all of us at Vagabundo Magazine life out every single day.  We feel so moved by the world around us that we want nothing more than to inspire others to take to the wild sides of the earth as well.  And, essentially, with this magazine that’s what we hope to do: inspire.  This January 2014 issue was a labour of love, but it is also an honour.  All of us here at Vagabundo Magazine feel so honoured that you’ve chosen to take in a bit of our lives.  So thank you so much for your support.
